1.       Inflatable Hot Tubs

 

The  tubs are normally made of vinyl, nylon or maybe plastic.  They are the most portable and economical type available.  They make a good choice if you want to be careful with your budget.  Inflatable tubs are easily assembled as they are considered lightweight and can be installed on any flat surfaces indoors or outdoors.  They do not require any special plumbing and can be just as easily to fill up with your garden hose.  They can be plugged into any standard wall outlet.  These  tubs come in the folded or snap apart models that can transferable from place to place.

 

Inflatable  tubs have it disadvantages.  Most inflatable  tubs are suitable for only one to two people at any one time.  They are less durable with limited warranties.  They are very prone to punctures. They are very basic without the in-built accessories of water jets to create the much delighting bubbles.   Furthermore, it is difficult to bring up the temperatures to heat up the water, sometimes hours while there is also the tendency for the heated temperature to drop tremendously.   Due to these, energy cost may be a factor that will dig deep into your pockets.

 

2.       Above-ground acrylic hot tubs

 

The above-ground hot tubs are far more popular than the inflatable  tubs.  They are considerably portable but much time and equipments will be required.  These tubs need to be installed on firm and permanent surfaces such as a concrete platform.  Above-ground  tubs also require high power consumptions to keep it and all its included components running.

 

An above-ground tub is made with an acrylic shell attached to a fiberglass structure.  These tubs are more expensive but they provide for better aesthetic appearance.   These  tubs come with in-built components such as heater and filtration system.  It can also be accessorized with massage eats to special lights, theatre and sound system, whirlpool jets or loungers with multiple seating configurations.

 

However, the downside of these  tubs is their initial expensive investment from a simple basic tub to the more customized ones with all the added components.  They are also costly to be maintained from month to month in view of the electricity required to run all the components.  These  tubs are also highly prone to bubbling and cracking with the continued exposure to sunlight and extreme temperatures.

 

3.       In-ground Hot Tubs

 

These in-ground hot tubs are the most expensive type of tubs.   In-ground tubs require a gazette space in your home where excavation will be carried out and extensive plumbing and electrical works put in place.  These tubs require professional building contractor and will need a permit as well as approval from the relevant authorities.  Building an in-ground  tub is quite similar to the construction of a swimming pool as it is either made of concrete, gunite or tile-lined.  In-ground  tubs have more seating capacity and can be customized all the elaborate components to turn it into spa which indirectly hikes up the real estate value of your home.

 

Deciding on an in-ground hot tub is a major decision in both cost and permanence.  Careful research for all your available options and engaging a reliable and professional builder will be of utmost priority in your list of things to consider before indulging in your investment.
