Bathtub Installation and What You Should KNow
There are many different types of bathtubs that are becoming vastly popular with consumers worldwide. Some persons may forget this step and end up with a bathtub too large or too small for the space. When replacing a bathtub it is important to use a similar tub in its place. A framed tub replacement will go best with another framed tub as a footless bathtub may not fit in the desired space. After making an appropriate decision and measuring the tub and space the purchase can be made.
Freestanding tubs are mostly memorable in the old days in black and white movies and old homes. They are unique and stylish fixtures within any modern and classy bathroom space. Bathtub installation for freestanding tubs is fairly easy. Freestanding tubs are also commonly called claw foot tubs as a result of the large paw or claw like feet they stand on.
When installing this type of tub it is important to prop it high off the ground in order to work underneath it. Assembling the tub may be a chore and may require help from friends or family. Each leg needs to be put in their place and the plumbing fixtures in the right place. Ensure the hot water tap is on the right side in order to avoid dangerous incidents. Once the tub has been put together, it is important to ensure it is level. If not, spacers can be used on each leg.
Frames tubs are more traditional bathtub fixtures. Bathtub installation of a framed tub can be rather easy especially if replacing an old one or a similar model. However, if installing a framed tub for the first time the area where it will fit will need to be framed. Framing usually consists of 2x4 planks being nailed into the wall studs behind and beside the tub. These planks are called ledgers. After the framing is complete, plumbing can commence. Ensure you acquire the help of friends and family as bathtubs are rather heavy items and cannot be carried alone.
Bathtub installation doesn't have to be very difficult as long as each individual has enough knowledge on the matter. Consulting with a skilled plumber and contractor will also aid the task of bathroom installation.
