How Not To Be Late When It's Time To Renovate

It's nice to get away for a vacation!  You work toward this moment all year long.  You've sacraficed, you've saved, and now it's time.  You are in the moment and enjoying every second.  It's wonderful to get out of the heat, play in the ocean, visit family and friends, breathe in the fresh air of the mountain pines, and fish in the fresh water streams, shop 'til you drop in new undiscovered surroundings, and eat in unfamiliar restaurants.  Everything fresh and new!        

Wow!, you think.  Where did this year go already?  It's July.  Soon the kids will be back in school and before you know it, the holidays will be upon us! Eek!, you think!  I haven't even started planning for that.  It seemed so far away . . . but so did summer!   Now it's right around the corner, in fact it is lightly tapping on my door.  I'd better pay attention.  There is much to do.        

This would be a great time to change some of your older windows and doors with newer, more modern flair to update the look of your home.  Remember that article you saved comparing replacement windows that also had a great section on replacement window reviews for you to gain ideas and gather data before you buy?

Maybe you've been thinking about a type of renewable energy and you are starting to pay attention to what is energy efficiency and what is not.  You've read and heard much this year about energy efficiency tax credits and there are many tips and examples of renewable energy that you want to research a bit further.

Throughout your travel this summer visiting the different Inns, hostels, restaurants and clubs; you have probably come up with some great ideas for interesting window treatments, too!  Did you see some designer cornices or valance ideas that you said to yourself, "I must have that" when I get home?         

Remember that quaint little restaurant where you were seated among those beautiful bay window designs?  And the cute little bed and breakfast with their wonderful metal window awnings?  Isn't that the one that had the fantastic curved curtain rods and shower curtain over the claw-foot bathtub and the soft turkish towels that felt so good against your slightly sunburned body?   

And remember the Inn on the lake with all their stain glass patterns in the windows?  What a delight it was after the hike to the lake to do a little fishing and gathering wild berries along the stream.  It was so inviting and relaxing, wasn't it? Designers blended the old and new with period furniture and contemporary bamboo floors, halogen track lighting,  and modern small bathroom vanities that added such a delicate balance to the room.  Didn't it make you feel like you were living with your own personal spa? YES!  You can duplicate that in your own home.                  

Soon the kids will be back in school and you will have lots of time on your hands to get started on your home renovation projects.  It's not too early to start.  Remember, everyone wants everything done before the holidays; so the mad rush begins and the back-logs start stacking up.            

You'll be happy you invested the time and energy.  Besides it will be a great time of "oneness" that you can use to reflect on what a wonderful year it has been so far!  If not, at least a time to count ones blessings for all the good we have in our lives, how fortunate we are, and broaden our sense of self worth.  We can all use a little of that, can't we?

The time is now.  Keep in mind the amount of time it takes to get something done.  You know the drill; six to eight weeks for this, One month backlog on that, two month backorder on this product, and the proverbial line of "we already have five jobs ahead of you", etc.  It all spells the same thing:  WAIT!  Perhaps the fact that Thanksgiving is just a little over four months away should put a little pressure on you to just get moving.             

Make sure you get your home up to par by starting your plan now.   You'll be glad you did when you have all the time you could possibly want to shop and decorate before Aunt Helen comes for Thanksgiving, and the kids return for Christmas; instead of worrying about what you should have done this summer to freshen your home!                              

If you don't know how, don't want to know how OR tackle it, want to tackle it with guidance, or know how and just don't want to; there is always a professional ready to assist you in any capacity.  Just take a look in your neighborhood first.  It's been a tough couple of years for the "mom and pop" businesses around the country.   You don't want to see more vacant stores, do you?  So shop and use professionals in your neighborhood whenever possible.  It will help the economy around where you live and play, and let them know you are doing your part to keep them there.    Show you care!
