The fundamental practice of Yoga has been taught for centuries in many places around the world with its seamless poses and beautiful extensions of the body. Yoga creates a space of spiritual enlightenment for all who practice it through its various poses, breathing, and clearing of the mind. The major focal points of yoga include: Panayama (controlling breath), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (Meditation), Asana (the seated position for meditation), and several standing or sitting positions meant for peaceful contemplation. The goal of yoga is to improve health both mentally as well as physically, while establishing a beautiful unity between body, spirit and soul. The consistent practice of yoga as it spread from India to the United States over the years has created harmony and tranquility to those who practice it.
A Central Illinois studio, named Namaste Wellness in Junction City, has been open since May 2006 offering various types of yoga and other wellness offerings, such as Pilates and Meditation. Namaste is the main phrase for leaving and beginning a yoga session, in order to show respect for the practice of yoga itself, meaning "let there be salutation to you." Owner Molly Waller showcases many class types, including several types of Yoga such as, Foundations of Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Athletic Yoga Flow and others that will leave you empowered by their class sessions. The 20 class options allow for many types of class variations with reasonable session prices for each type of exercise. Namaste's schedule also helps those who are in different levels of yoga concentrate on their personal goals. The great focus of Namaste in Central Illinois is to keep the concept of wellness alive for all ages and walks of life, especially in Peoria. A collective of 9 amazing instructors keep the passion for yoga and wellness alive through their strong teaching skills. Additionally, Molly provides some great tips for each class session on her website and in a provided brochure, while providing all sources for payment of courses. She also provides traditional definitions of yoga for those who may want to understand the postures more fully. Here are some suggestions for classes:
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
- When joining a class already in progress, please do so with minimal disruption.
- Don't practice on a full stomach.
- All required mats and props are provided for your use or you may bring your own.
- Wear comfortable but form fitting clothing so instructors may assist you with your postures.
All in all, Namaste Wellness Studio is a brilliant yoga studio in the Peoria area that creates quality classes with healthy training in mind. The qualified instructors and comfortable setting gives a beautiful, spiritual journey for all yoga students. The creation of physical and emotional well-being is enhanced through positive training at Namaste. While providing creative events and a wonderful class environment, this Peoria studio gives new life to an aged, serene practice that celebrates the best of life. Overall, Namaste Wellness Studio gives the best of spiritual mindfulness that Central Illinois has to offer.
