This unit specializes in one thing and does it well, switching errors. Wait until dusk, connect it to your computer, and then watch them fry. Far better than tiki torches!
After struggling with tiki torches, mosquito coils, and candles the last two summers, I finally made a leap of faith and bought the Flowtron BK-15D. I can tell already, it's made a huge difference and the mosquitos are almost non-existent. My yard is only 50x150, so I only needed the 1/2 acre (15W) Flowtron. I was concerned that it would be loud or annoying at night, but hasn't been a problem at all where I've got it 30 ft from the house. It does have an extremely short cord (extension cord required); what I ended up doing was mounting a light-sensing timer right next to it (on the outside of the garage under the roof overhang), and that worked like a charm -- the Flowtron's black light doesn't throw off the light-sensing timer at all. As for maintenance, the octenal mosquito cartriges do need replaced monthly, and they are a little more pricey than they should be ($6-8/each). I also have to blow off the zapping bars about once every 1-2 weeks -- most bugs get zapped and fall to the ground, but some stick to the bars instead. I've found canned air, like used for dusting electronics, seems to work fine. Now, if I could only keep the dog from eating the dead bugs, everything will be perfect.

Exactly What I Expected...very happy
I purchased this item since I live in a ranch style house and when opening the garage door, not only do the pests invade my garage, they easily get into the house. With children around i was looking to protect them from the nasty insects. Now I put this inside the garage since that is where the problem occurs, and it is far enough away from the inside of the house, and I am extremely pleased with the results. Great price for the piece of mind this product gives. I will buy another one for around the pool area next so not only am I happy with the original purchase, I will be a repeat customer for the same product.
If you have any doubts, give this product a try. I purchased it about 2 weeks ago and feel very confident and *bite* free from all the mosquitos and other gnats this product zaps. Now I do not mind the mosquitos outside the house, but when they invade my territory, this 24/7 working device is just the perfect house guard.

This year, probably due to all the rain, we have had a huge problem with moths. The first night I put this out, I couldn't believe the pile of dead moths that were killed during the night. The second night, the pile was only have the size, but I don't see any more moths anywhere. This did a fantastic job and would recommend to anyone.

This is the brand we like best. Have used another brand before, the other brand does not last a full season. Have not installed the Flowtron yet this year. If it is like the other Flowtrons we have used it will last 2 or 3 years. When installed in the right place it does a good job of getting rid of a lot of mosquitoes. We live in an area that has a heavy concentration of mosquitoes, and it thins them out quite nicely. Our order arrived quickly and in very good condition.

Awesome Product Works Great at Night, not at daylight
I've completed 3 weeks using the Model 15D, works great!, there is no need to buy the Octenol package to atracts mosquitos, since the light is enough to atract bugs, however this device does not atract bugs during the daylight only at night, which is ok, since you need to sleep well. Its a shame it does not work with bees, I have a bee hive in my yard, and have many problems with african bees and so on but it does not atract those bugs. I put the flowtron near my jacuzzi which is in my yard and works great, however dont put it far from the place you want to protect, since its not enough to kill all the bugs of the area, I also place it inside my house, works nice. I truly recommend this product

100 times better than the Stinger (Honeywell) products
I purchased 2 of the Stinger products and used them for a week. They killed about 20 bugs. I took them back. Stinger products are sold at Menard's, Home Depot and Lowe's- but...the products are almost useless.
I then purchased the Flowtron product from Amazon (1/2 acre, free shipping) and it killed over 200 bugs in one night. I just ordered another one along with the hanging bracket.
Hang at a 6-8' level away from your doors (I mounted mine about 30 feet away from my house). Use an outdoor rated extension cord. Buy the heavy-duty outdoor timer (3 prong Intermatic HB300RCL) from Lowe's (10.97). Be prepared to clean off the unit (unplug it first) almost daily. I just unplug the power cord, plug in a blow dryer- high speed, cool air- and blow off the bugs from the grid) then I plug the unit back in. Keep the unit away from gasoline and other flammable liquids.
Did a great job on killing mosquitoes, which is the only reason that I bought the product!
The 15-watt bulb will cost about $1.00 per month in electricity.
I also purchased the Dynatrap from Amazon for my inside garage area (about 99.00). Great product, but you must leave it on at all times otherwise the bugs will escape.
The Dynatrap is quiet as a church mouse, but it doesn't kill the bugs, it just traps them into a screened in area. You have to quickly shut the unit off, put a bag over the bottom of the unit and force all of the bugs into an empty plastic shopping bag.
