Diatomaceous or DE pool filters: This is the third category of pool filters that is available in the market. This mechanism got its name from the diatomaceous earth that is used as filtration medium. The filter created by this porous substance is capable of acting as a sieve to separate out algae, debris and impurities from the water. This mechanism offers the most precise filtration, effective of removing particles as small as 2 to 5 microns.

Activated charcoal swimming pool filters: If you are looking for a mechanism that would effectively remove harmful chemicals, toxins and pathogens from the water, these device is the best one for you.
