Automatic filters provide filtration solution for the county of Los Angeles

The County of Los Angeles has incorporated a Forsta self-cleaning water filter for their secondary effluent filtration coming from the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center.

Forsta filters are fully automatic, and utilize inlet water pressure to hydraulically . A rigid cylinder screen strains particles from a water source, trapping debris on the inside. This layer of buildup causes differential pressure across the inlet and outlet. A controller monitors the filter and opens a flush valve when it senses adequate differential pressure. This creates rapid flow through the internal cleaning apparatus, which vacuums buildup from the screen and expels it. The entire cleaning cycles takes from 6-15 seconds without interrupting the main flow.

Forsta self-cleaning industrial water filters provide the solution, offering dependable water filtration systems which ensure plant effluent quality.

Self-cleaning industrial water filters enter the wastewater treatment process at the secondary or tertiary phase where levels of organic material and suspended matter are relatively low.

The goal of tertiary treatment is to produce a final stage to improve the effluent quality before it is discharged to the receiving environment (sea, river, lake, ground, etc.). Forsta self-cleaning municipal water filters allow the efficient removal of debris for the purpose of effluent flow during this tertiary phase. Self-cleaning filters use minimal water for backwash, and do not interrupt system flow.

Self-cleaning water filters used in wastewater treatment will manage flow most efficiently when mounted in close range to the discharge of the main pump.

Specifications for water quality in wastewater applications involve a level of filtration from 10-500μ, with 200-300μ being most common. Due to the stapling effect of string-like particles on wire mesh, certain water sources require wedge wire screen elements.
